I’m fast approaching my wedding anniversary marking 12 wonderful years married to my best friend. We have shared and continue to create wonderful memories together with our 3 children.
However this is not the purpose if my post. What inspired me today is that there are moments in your life that provide you with an “aha” moment. I still remember every detail and the nervousness I felt hoping that everything will go right on our special day. I remember walking up to the alter and waiting anxiously with dozens of thoughts buzzing through my mind and just like that it happened.
The priest walked out from behind the Alter and said “Groom please follow me. We need to discuss something before the ceremony begins”. I thought what is going on? What did I forget and what could be so important that needed to be discussed at this moment?
Not one to challenge authority, I followed him curious to know what it may be. His speech was short and precise and the effect it has made on me is to this day enormous.
He said “My son, today is a special day with glitz and glamour that will pass. The real work starts tomorrow. Remember marriage is a mirror. It responds in the exact same manner you talk to it. If you yell, it yells back. If you smile, it will smile back. A mirror is not just for marriage, as it also applies to Life. Remember your life’s accomplishments are a reflection of this same mirror. Now lets go get you married!”
That’s my “Aha” moment!!!
Isn’t it so true? I don’t know anyone that woke up successful in Business and or in life. What I do know is that what you put in is what you get back in every aspect and he nailed it! Life is a journey and not a destination that constantly needs work. When you go home tonight, look into your mirror, smile, apologize and move forward to fulfill your aspirations and live the life you always dreamed you would!!
